Money is the main object of collection in Insaniquarium and is counted in the form of dollars. Money is used to purchase upgrades for food and lasers, fish such as guppies and carnivores, and egg pieces to purchase pets. Almost every fish drops money and some pets do as well. Shells, a currency in Virtual Tank Mode, allow the player to purchase permanent fish to care for over a long period of time and upgrades for their tank.

Diamonds: The Diamond is worth $200. King Guppies and Carnivores drop diamonds and Starcatchers give diamonds in exchange for a Star. Amp also gives you diamonds by electrocuting all of your Guppies and Brinkley gives you diamonds if fed for a particular number of times. When you destroy an Alien (excluding Cyrax), you will also receive a Diamond.

The Diamond has a resemblance to the Gems from Bejeweled.

The sound of collecting a diamond is also used in Plants vs Zombies.

Trivia[]

  • The money can max out up to $9999999. This can be easily achieved on Sandbox Mode if you have many fishes in the tank and also spawning an ultravore which gives you a lot of treasure chests. This is the same case as shells on Virtual Tank Mode.
    • While on the purchase options, the price can only have a maximum of $99999, as shown on Tank 4-5 as the price of an egg piece.
