Gold Stars are a currency and food in both Insaniquarium! Deluxe and Insaniquarium. As a currency, they are worth $40 in Adventure Mode, Time Trial Mode and Challenge Mode when clicked, and are produced by Star Guppies or Brinkley. Stars are eaten by the Starcatchers, who will produce Diamonds in return.

A food-only version of the stars is available in the Virtual Tank Mode and can be purchased using the "Feed" button, which will require at least one Starcatcher. These cannot be collected for Shells, unless a bug is exploited (by dropping it, hiding the starcatcher, then having Nimbus throw it back up, after which, it CAN be collected for 3 shells each) much the same as with Beetles from the same button (which has no known bug that can be exploited for shells). Strangely enough, stars still do have an associated shell value, even though it's impossible to obtain Star Guppies in the Virtual Tank, as the stars can still be dropped by Brinkley and collected for 3 Shells.

A Star Potion

To get a Star Guppy, you must feed a fully grown (adult) Guppy with a Star Potion, costing $250. Medium and Small Guppies will die if they attempt to eat a Star Potion, so be careful while feeding them, or you would waste your money to kill your fish. In Tank 2, Star Guppies drop gold Stars worth $40 every 9 seconds. Starcatchers eat these stars, but give you a $200 Diamond in return.

Brinkley[]

Brinkley will toss up some kind of Money every 3 times you feed him. He mostly throws up Stars.

Collecting Stars[]

In the Virtual Tank, Pets will collect only Stars if no Starcatchers are present.

In all other modes, Pets will collect Stars only if there isn't, and never was, a Starcatcher in that game. Once a Starcatcher is purchased, even if it dies, Pets will not collect any more stars.
